i’ve done isotretinoin for 6 months however after a year of clear skin my acne came back. I then got on doxycycline twice and went on lymecycline for 6 months, unfortunately my acne came back at this point i have given up on going to dermatologists and taking medication 😭😭

Tried spiro, duac (gave me dermatitis), treclin, lymecycline and nothing worked so ended up taking isotretinoin. Best thing Ive ever done. Isotretinoin changed my life!!! Finished with it 2 years ago and not a single spot anywhere. I did have really oily skin to start with and where people complain about severe dryness, my skin was normal, it was just my lips that became a little dry. Highly recommend to anyone who just wants to be done with acne

i actually JUST started accutane today. i've been struggling with acne since i was 12/13 years old and i suffered one of my worst breakouts 2 months ago (i'm almost 25 y/o). albeit, my breakout happened at the time of a breakup, a bad rooomate situation, and finding out my parent has cancer....so it was kind of expected that my skin would flip out on me considering the stress i was under. my acne has been the same as yours where it'll get better fr a while and be mild and then it'll swing back to moderate. even if i don't pick at it, i'm left with scarring which takes anywhere from months to years to clear up. i've tried 2 yrs of spironolactone, 4 years of tret cream, 2 rounds of antibiotics for 2 weeks at a time, az acid, benzoyl peroxide, clindamyacin, chemical peels, etc. over the years. my plan is to finish accutane and then be on a "maintenence dose" of spironolactone for my hormonal breakouts if the acne comes back after my round of accutane. of course, the side effects of accutane freaked me out and dissuaded me for years from taking the drug. but i feel this is my best shot at ridding myself of something that has impacted my self esteem for more than a decade. i wish you the best of luck!

hey! i wanna share my story too. my acne started when i moved to college. it definitely healed. but turns out that moving out triggered my skin type (?). it went from normal to acne-prone. i get small breakouts each time going to new places. but big breakout when I the environment is very different. it has been more than a month and I am on medication now. the doctor gave me clindamycin and adapalene. It's been 2 weeks and it shows progress. although I have a question for you. when the whiteheads pop out, do you pick them? do you think it's easier/faster for the skin to heal when you extract the dried pimples?

I struggled with acne since puberty. It was really bad. Tried antibiotics, home remedies, lifestyle changes, hormonal treatments. Nothing worked. This was before retinol serums and all the chemical exfoliants you can get now were accessible. So I tried Accutane. The side effects were pretty bad, I don't think it's that good for your body at all. I had to be on the lowest dosage because of my pancreas flaring up whenever we tried to go up. Yikes! But with minimal dosage and only 6 months of treatment, my acne disappeared FOREVER. This was 5 years ago and my skin has been super clear and healthy ever since. Acne hurts so bad, I was taking painkillers daily to cope with the pain. So happy now. I am grateful every day. It makes such a difference. Just my story, in case anyone is looking for info. :)

Id be really interested in the hormones tests that your gynaecologists says. Please would you report back on that for us?

Like Its something thats been with me for so long that it doesn't really bother me as much anymore 😅 my derm also recommended me lymecyline but im still not sure if i should take it or not 😂 its really interesting to see your Journey .
